Jade Room is an authentic Chinese restaurant in Al Malqa, Riyadh, created to rediscover Chinese cuisine rather than imitate it. Opened on 9 July 2026 by Pillars Investment Company, it is led by a Chinese culinary team cooking regional dishes, from Sichuan to Canton, refined for the Saudi palate.
In September 2026, Time Out Riyadh rated Jade Room “Highly Commended” in its list of the best Asian restaurants in Riyadh.
Chinese chefs in Riyadh
Chinese cooking is learned in kitchens, not from recipes alone: the control of wok heat, the balance of chili and numbing Sichuan pepper, the lightness of Cantonese steaming. Jade Room’s kitchen is led by Chinese Chef Kaiyang Xing, whose experience spans Sichuan, Cantonese, Beijing and Northern Chinese cooking. He and his team bring those techniques to Riyadh, refining spice and sweetness for Saudi guests without changing what each dish is. Many signature items, including the noodles and the dim sum, are made by hand every day, and the sauces are made in-house: Sichuan chili oil, a hand-blended fermented black bean sauce, fresh ginger-scallion oil and the sweet-spicy glazes on the signature beef dishes. Dishes are portioned to be shared by two guests.
From Sichuan to Canton: the regions on the menu
Sichuan brings the dried-chili, peppercorn and cumin heat of Sichuan Crispy Shredded Beef and Brisket Cubes with Crispy Chili Garlic. Hunan, known for sharper, fresher heat, gives Hunan Stir-Fried Beef with Chili and Coriander. Canton, the home of dim sum, is behind Crystal Prawn Dumplings and Cantonese Steamed Hareed. And the Peking tradition of dishes wrapped in thin pancakes lives on in Peking Chicken with Mandarin Pancakes and Cucumber.
Why is it called Jade Room?
Jade has been treasured in China for thousands of years, carved into ornaments and objects of value and long linked with purity and virtue. The restaurant was named for exactly that meaning, something precious and lasting, and its deep green tones and gold details echo it.
